Already under fire for not jumping at the chance to invest in Stacy’s new business, Jane finds she has another enemy when Owen’s sister, Olivia, comes looking for a divorce lawyer and insists on hiring Kim. Though glad to take the case, Kim isn’t so sure about Olivia’s claim that her husband Bryan, a tech geek who is about to become rich off some new software, is having an affair with his virtual assistant, a computer avatar named Eve. Meanwhile, Jane agrees to represent Rita Curtis, who claims she’s been fired one year short of retirement so Onestop Superstore can avoid paying her pension. But after Rita’s manager says he let her go for her repeated criticisms of the company’s products, guardian angel Luke says that he’s arranged the case to come to Jane because Rita also says she died and came back as someone else. Though Bryan admits to depending on Eve, he dismisses any notion that he and the avatar are having an affair. Looking for grounds to void the prenup, Kim pores over Bryan’s company records for evidence that Eve was based on a real life mistress. But when she discovers that the program is actually based on his wife, Kim makes a case for Olivia being duly compensated because she provided Eve’s essence. Meanwhile, after Grayson discovers some unsettling information about her new business partner, it’s too late to keep Nikki from robbing Stacy blind. And when pressed about why she doesn’t like Jane, Olivia reveals that she is still angry over something she did in high school – years before Jane’s reincarnation. Though Onestop’s lawyer is certain that Rita’s case will be dismissed, Jane successfully proves that the company’s claims about its low-cost house brands are false. Unnerved by Rita’s assertion that she has been inhabited by the spirit of her late sister Lauren, Jane uncovers evidence that Lauren’s death was due to faulty brakes on a Onestop company car.
