We’ve made some updates regarding the winter weather accumulations as we head into tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday morning. Most of the morning weather models have shown a decrease in winter weather chances, but we’re noticing a little bit of a ‘flip back’ with the new data coming in this afternoon.
We’ve adjusted the freezing line northward, moving it out of the Hill Country, Central Texas, and the Brazos Valley, where we now expect to see rain (staying above freezing!). It’s going to be close, though, and if the temperatures dip further, we might experience some light icing in those areas. The heaviest snowfall is now anticipated in Texoma, far Northeast Texas, and Southeastern Oklahoma, potentially bringing 2-6 inches of snow. For those in northern D/FW, you have the best chance of seeing more significant snowfall, while we will have a sharp cutoff somewhere in D/FW. There’s the possibility of 1-3 inches of snow across the Panhandle, West Texas, the Permian Basin, Big Country, and northern Concho Valley.
If we trend even warmer or drier, these winter weather totals might be a bit high. We’ll keep a close eye on this afternoon and evening’s weather data as it comes in, and we plan to share a video update by 10 PM this evening with any new forecast details. Regardless, we’re looking at one to three inches of rain likely across the eastern third of Texas!
