Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade overpowered Zalgiris Kaunas 73-61 in the team’s home opener on Wednesday at Stark Arena. Nikola Kalinic scored 13 of his team-high 15 points in the second half to pace Zvezda, which won its second straight game to improve to 2-1.
Ognjen Dobric added 13 points, Luka Mitrovic produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and Nate Wolters compiled 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Zalgiris was unable to get its first win under new head coach Jure Zdovc and fell to 0-3 on the season. Josh Nebo was a bright spot for Zalgiris with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Niels Giffey and Lukas Lekavicius added 11 points apiece
