Popcorn is a snack you can never go wrong with! Adding a sweet spin to this all-time favorite movie snack, weโre making Hay Dayโs Honey Popcorn and Chocolate Popcorn.
Weโve put together a super simple recipe and a video, so you can follow along step-by-step.
Ingredients:
โข 2 ยฝ Tbsp Oil
โข 1 Cup Popcorn kernels
โข 1-2 Tsp Salt
Honey Popcorn:
โข 1 Cup Popped popcorn
โข 7/8 Cup Sugar
โข 1/2 Cup Water
โข 1 Tbsp Butter
โข 1 Tbsp Honey
โข ยฝ Tsp Salt
Chocolate Popcorn:
โข 1 Cup Popped popcorn
โข 1 Cup Chocolate
โข Prep time: 45 min
โข Servings: 2-4 people / 1 big bowl of popcorn
โข Equipment: Pot, pot lid, wooden spoon, big bowl, saucepan, whisk, parchment paper
Method:
โข Add oil and popcorn kernels to a large pot. Mix until covered.
โข Set heat to high and cover with a lid.
โข Turn down the heat after hearing the first kernel pop.
โข Remove from heat once the popping slows down.
โข Pour into your favorite big bowl and sprinkle with salt.
โข Give it a nice shake โ thatโll bring up any salt that fell to the bottom.
Honey Popcorn:
โข Add water and sugar to a saucepan. Set to medium heat. Do not stir once the mix starts to boil!
โข Remove from heat once the mix turns golden brown.
โข Add butter, and whisk until itโs no longer foaming.
โข Add salt and honey.
โข Pour the hot honey mix onto the popcorn, mixing quickly before it cools and hardens.
โข Place parchment paper on a baking tray spreading the honey covered popcorn evenly on top.
โข Let cool.
โข Break into pieces and enjoy!
Chocolate Popcorn:
โข Add chocolate chunks to a heat-proof bowl. Place the bowl on top of a pot of hot water to slowly melt the chocolate.
โข Pour melted chocolate onto your popcorn and mix.
โข Place parchment paper on a baking tray, spreading the chocolate covered popcorn evenly on top.
โข Let cool in the fridge to harden.
โข Remove from fridge, turn on the TV, plop onto the sofa and enjoy an all-time great, sweet snack.
Tip! Store popcorn in airtight containers and refrigerate to enjoy later.
