Arsenal have made a shock £60m bid for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, according to the Daily Mail.
Internal talks at Arsenal have continued over the recruitment of a forward before the deadline, following Gabriel Jesus’ long-term injury.
Watkins has emerged as a surprise target for Mikel Arteta’s side, who currently have Kai Havertz as their only senior recognised striker.
The paper claims the initial bid is understood to have been rejected, with Arsenal expected to make a fresh offer for the 29-year-old.
