What is “selvplukk”? Safari travels to a hidden place in the Norwegian forest and a selvplukk farm to meet up with experts in the field. Do you want to get dirty and pick your own dinner?

“Selvplukk” is a word put together by two words: Self and pick. Selvplukk is literally picking your own food. It’s a social activity as well as climate-friendly and cheap. Norwegians love excursions with friends and family. They enjoy going to the forest or selvplukk-farms to pick herbs, vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, and berries. Then, at the end of the day, they go together and make a delicious meal – all by selvplukk.

“Word of the day” is a YouTube series where you get to learn Norwegian one word at a time with Safari while he travels through Norway. Through each word, you’ll also get to know Norway and our culture. Episodes drop every Thursday at 7 pm CET. Subscribe now!
