Burpees burn calories at about the same rate as riding a running on a treadmill. They build less muscle than slow push-ups. They put a lot of strain on your joints when your form inevitably falls apart after you get tired. They make you *think* you’re getting a good workout, but they aren’t that great long-term.
Have some people gotten strong with burpees? Lost fat? Sure. But exceptions are just that – exceptional.
Burpees are dumb.
The surfer get-up is a more practical exercise that gives you better results without hating the last 30 minutes of your life. Unless you’re one of those weird people who love burpees. In that case, you do you. We’re going to surf.
