The West Indies have named 12 players for the opening Test match. They will take a final call on the match day. However, the hosts have announced that top-order batter Tevin Imlach is all set to make his Test debut.
Pakistan (Confirmed Playing XI): Shan Masood (c), Mohammad Huraira, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan, Nauman Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Abrar Ahmed
Pakistan have announced their playing XI for the first Test. The hosts are going in with three front-line spinners and a debutant Mohammad Huraira.
After nearly two decades, the West Indies will play a Test match in Pakistan. The last time the Caribbean team toured Pakistan for a Test series was way back in 2006. We already have our two finalists for the World Test Championship (WTC) final and both Pakistan and the West Indies are not part of it. However, these two teams will look to end this WTC cycle on a high.
Both the Tests will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The first Test will begin from Friday (January 17).
Pakistan, led by Shan Masood, have made a whopping seven changes to their squad that recently toured South Africa for a two-match Test series.
Sajid Khan returns to the squad after his heroics in the home series win over England at home a few months back.
Abrar Ahmed also makes a comeback to the Test arena. Saim Ayub is out injured while Abdullah Shafique, who has been struggling to find runs at the top of the order, has been dropped. Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Huraira are back.
To manage the workload of the pacers, the hosts have rested Aamir Jamal, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Abbas and Mir Hamza. Mohammad Ali has been recalled into the squad.
Rohail Nazir is the backup keeper in the squad with Mohammad Rizwan likely to start in the first Test. Uncapped batter Kashif Ali has been named in the 15-man squad.
