n this scene from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the actor Stephen Hunter, who plays Bombur, was tasked with overtaking the other dwarves while running from Beorn. Although Hunter wore the heaviest costume, he managed to outpace the others, surprising his co-stars. The reactions on their faces were genuine, as they didn’t expect him to run so fast. The scene was filmed with Hunter wearing running shoes, as the shot didn’t show the actors’ feet. The director, Peter Jackson, was pleased with the results of the take.
