Espresso with the Omega Grinder πŸ“Έβ˜• (Fast Burr Version)
.
.
.
After getting the chance to test the Omega Prototype grinder a few months ago, we had high expectations in espresso. However, we are confident that the Prototype grinder was using the Soft Burr Version.
.
.
πŸ”ΉοΈIt takes 60 to 80 seconds to grind 18g for espresso, and we consider this the average time, definitely not a fast one.
πŸ”ΉοΈIt is easy to grip, but very difficult to grind with. It requires considerable force especially when using medium or light roasts.
πŸ”ΉοΈDue to the grinding difficulty, you will have one or a few coffee beans popping out from the top of the grinder, it happens to us almost each time in espresso settings.
πŸ”ΉοΈDue to the grinding difficulty, the magnetic ball knob will come off if you did not pay attention to hold the grinder in a straight way.
πŸ”ΉοΈIt is extremely well built and it is one of the most beautiful hand grinders out there πŸ’«
πŸ”ΉοΈIt has micro adjustments and you will be able to get your desired timing espresso shots on point.
πŸ”ΉοΈTaste wise:

It is capable of delivering delicious espresso shots. It is what you would expect from a perfectly alligned grinder with a very good conical burr set.
We will share a more detailed tasting profile feedback on the final review, as we wanted to share the espresso review as soon as possible.
.
.
Mazzer team chose to go with kind of confusing names to the Omega Burrs.
We will try to make it more simple to understand:

πŸ”ΈοΈThe Fast Version Burr is probably the Filter Focused (performs better in coarse settings)
πŸ”ΈοΈThe Soft Version Burr is probably the Espresso Focused (will be much easier to grind for espresso with slightly more fine particles)
.
Overall, we had high hopes for the Omega grinder in espresso, and unfortunately, we are truly disappointed with the Fast version burr.
.
That being said, we are planing to test the Soft Burr version which hopefully will live to the expectations.
.
However, our budget is limited and we do have priorities in testing coffee tools. Hopefully it won’t be long πŸ’―
.
Filter review is coming soon πŸ“ΈπŸ‘
.
.
Hope you have a lovely day! πŸ€β˜•
