The Diego Maradona stories continue, this time with ESPN FC’s Alejandro Moreno. Ale recalls playing for Venezuela against the Maradona-coached Argentina side in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier in 2010 at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. Diego Maradona had picked the unpopular Juan Sebastián Verón in his starting XI, and the entire stadium greeted him with boos every time he touched the ball. Maradona realized this, and Moreno then describes how he was able to get the entire stadium to cheer Verón’s name.
