Beyond persistent demands for money, entrepreneurs often face robbery. A post on platform X highlights a recent anti-Chinese incident in Mozambique, one of China’s major aid recipients in East Africa. Mobs looted Chinese-owned stores, and some locals reportedly used Chinese-donated armoured vehicles to ram into Chinese-operated supermarkets. According to the post, the Chinese government’s foreign aid policy to Africa is labelled as “scattering money”, more Africans see Chinese people as “walking ATMs.” In some cases, even local police engage in extortion against Chinese nationals.
